Prelims 2024 Aspirants

Procrastination is one of your biggest enemies in this preparation.

Sometimes, it’s just momentary and gets over quickly.
Sometimes, we are not able to start at any cost.

How to get over it?

πŸ‘‰ Try to identify why you’re procrastinating – fear? Perfection phobia? Lack of clarity? Lack of confidence? Apparent lack of skills to do it? Environment? IDENTIFY IT.

πŸ‘‰ Plan on the previous night, especially for the difficult task.

πŸ‘‰ Break your overall Target into very small targets ( this is especially for those areas you know you’ll procrastinate)

πŸ‘‰ Pick up the smallest and the easiest first step πŸͺœ

πŸ‘‰ Then just do it (without any expectations)

πŸ‘‰ Very soon you’ll see things getting better faster than you thought.

πŸ‘‰ Have a reward mechanism if possible for such things.

πŸ‘‰ Repeat the purpose of doing it clearly in your mind again and again.

Example:
Let say you have been procrastinating starting Ancient History. You make plans everyday, but don’t start.

Identify why aren’t you starting – lack of sources/clarity on how-to/ past experience/misguidance?

Tell yourself why it’s important to do it – the reality. Because it’s important for me to do it to see my name in the list.

Leave the idea of doing Ancient completely. Break your complete Ancient into 8-10 important topics.

Start with the first one. Let say, just start with IVC.

IVC still looking difficult? Just start with reading the sites map/ society/ economy/ religion of IVC. Just one simple thing.

Have no expectations from it. Just do it. Reiterate the purpose.

As you do, keep taking the next smaller component. Then do it.

You’ll find yourself completing IVC very soon.

Best of Luck.
